Muga silk sarees are prized for their fine texture, durability, and natural yellow gold lustre that increases with each wash. Other than this Guwahati is also known for the famous Kamakhya Devi Temple located at the Nilachal hills.

The temple is one of the Shaktipeeths as per the religious hindu texts. The scriptures also denote that the temple is made at the same place where the genitals of goddess Sati, reincarnated as Shakti fell. The worshipped deity popularly known as kamakhya Devi here is known as the supreme deity of Tantra in the world. Prior to Kamakhya Devi, Tantra Ganpati here is worshipped whose idol is located at the walls of the temple. Offering silver or metal coins to the idol is a tradition which everyone follows to receive blessings from Ganpati.
