Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the 2017 S-Cross facelift in India soon. A source close to this development told Express Drives that the new S-Cross will be launched on 28th September 2017. Maruti has kept itself busy with the launch of the Dzire some months back and then inauguration of its Nexa service centres, upgrading the True Value used car showrooms and finally upgrading its showrooms to Maruti Suzuki Arena. Now, the company will be rolling out the facelifted version of the S-Cross, which was first showcased in Europe last year. The new model will come with some changes on the outside, including a bold front grille finished in chrome. The crossover vehicle will retain the projector headlamp setup with DRLs. At the rear, the 2017 S-Cross will get sleeker LED combination lamps and it will also get integrated roof rails, as it does on the current model. We expect minor changes in the interior as well. Maruti Suzuki has already fitted a touchscreen 'Smart Play Infotainment system' that supports navigation and Bluetooth. The 2017 model is expected to support other features like Apple Car Play and Google Android Auto, the latter being a new introduction.
The 2017 S-Cross facelift will be powered by the same 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine found on the current model. It will develop peak power output of 88 hp and 200 Nm of peak torque. The unit will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission that will send power to the front wheels.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross made its Indian debut in 2015 and was the first car to be sold through Nexa dealerships. The car was launched with two diesel engine options 1.3L and 1.6L however, the company discontinued the sale of 1.6L diesel S-Cross due to less demand.
The new Maruti Suzuki S-cross is expected to be launched in five variants and is likely to be priced about Rs 20,000 - 30,000 higher than the outgoing model. Currently, the S-Cross is priced between Rs 7.94 - 11.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). During the financial year 2016-17, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 21,417 units of its S-Cross crossover in the domestic market and exported about 4,303 units.
