Idea Cellular on Monday said profit for the current quarter stood at Rs 220.15 crore against Rs 144.07 crore in the same period last year, up by 52.8%. On a quarterly basis Idea?s profit declined 25.8% from Rs 297.1 crore in Q1FY10 to Rs 220.2 crore in Q2FY10. ?Overcapacity has manifested in tariffs unrelated to economics. Market prices have plumbed depths. Currently, 40% of our revenues come from the rural sector and we cover nearly 50% of the rural population. In the days ahead, competition would be powered by rural demand,? said Sanjeev Aga, managing director, Idea Cellular. Idea?s revenue increased 29.11%, from Rs 2303.35 crore in Q2FY09 to Rs 2973.91 in Q2FY10. Against last quarter in the same year, the company incurred marginal loss and its revenue declined to Rs 2973.9 crore against Rs 2975.9 crore in Q1FY10. The company added four million subscribers, taking the entire subscriber base to around 52 million. Idea currently operates in 18 out of 22 circles and will be a pan India player by the end of calendar year.
Tata Comm net at Rs 10 cr
Tata Communications (Tata Comm) on Monday reported net profit of Rs 10.45 crore, down 68% against Rs 32.92 crore posted during the same period last year. Tata Comm also incurred revenue loss by 23.47% for the current quarter. Its revenues declined from Rs 992.14 crore in quarter ended September 30, 2009 to Rs 759.23 crore in the current quarter. The company?s reportable segments are wholesale voice, enterprise and carrier data amongst others.
Lupin net up 39%
Lupin has reported improved performance for the second quarter of financial year 2009-10, on the back of growth of formulation sales for advanced markets. The company?s net profit grew 39% for the quarter to Rs 160 crore from Rs 115 crore. Net sales went up 23% to Rs 1,114.7 crore from Rs 908 crore. Lupin shares closed at Rs 1,239, down by 1.09% or Rs 13.60 on Monday on the BSE. Formulation sales for advanced markets like US, Europe and Japan increased 27% to Rs 481.5 crore during Q2 FY 2009-10 from Rs 378 crore, contributing 43% of overall net sales for the quarter. Formulation sales for US and EU was up 28% to Rs 353 crore from Rs 276 crore. The company markets 22 generic products in the US market. The brands business grew 83% during Q2 FY 2009-10. Lupin?s Japanese subsidiary, Kyowa, contributed 12% of the net sales in the quarter, recording growth of 27 % to
Rs 128.3 crore from Rs 101 crore.
Bharati Shipyard net slips 1.4%
Bharati Shipyard Ltd (BSL) has posted a marginal dip of 1.4% in its net profit at Rs 32.69 crore for the September-ended quarter of the financial year 2009-10 as against Rs 33.16 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago. Sales showed a 47.97% increase at Rs 316.33 crore as compared to Rs 213.78 crore in the previous corresponding period. Meanwhile, shares of the company dipped 2.53% to close at Rs 179 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday.
Dabur net up 30%
Dabur India reported a 30.7% jump in consolidated net profit during the second quarter ended September 30, 2009, at Rs 140.34 crore against Rs 107.41 crore during the corresponding period last year. Second quarter revenues has gone up 22.4% at Rs 855.06 crore as compared to Rs 698.45 crore in the same period last financial year.
NIIT profit dips 12%
NIIT Ltd on Monday reported a 12% drop in its net profit for the quarter ending September 30, 2009, at Rs 26.2 crore compared to the same period last year. The company?s consolidated revenues were up 19% year-on-year at Rs 555 crore. ?The decline in net profit was due to forex volatility,? said Rajendra Pawar, chairman, NIIT Ltd. The board of the company has approved raising Rs 230 crore through qualified institutional placements.
Bosch net at Rs 194 cr
Bosch Ltd?s net profit for the quarter ended September 30 increased to Rs194.8 crore against Rs 158.2 crore reported in the same period a year ago, as per unaudited financial results of the company. In the same period, total income climbed to Rs 1,341 crore from Rs 1,290 crore, the company said in a statement.
Welspun Q2 net jumps
Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren on Monday said net profit jumped two-fold to Rs 165.1 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009, compared to the same period last year. Sales rose to Rs 2,173.4 crore during the quarter, against Rs 1,492.8 crore in the same quarter previous fiscal.
Nucleus Software profit up
Nucleus Software Exports posted a two-fold jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 9.88 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, over the same period last year. Income from software products and services declined to Rs 70.75 crore against Rs 75.45 crore in the same period last fiscal.
Mirc Electronics net soars 550%
Mirc Electronics Ltd, manufacturer of Onida brand of consumer electronics products, has posted 550% rise in net profit at Rs 5.66 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, as compared to Rs 87 lakh recorded during the previous corresponding period. The company has reported a 14.28% increase in net sales at Rs 392.10 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, as compared to Rs 343.10 crore during the previous corresponding period.
Srei Infra profit
Srei Infrastructure Finance said its consolidated net profit rose marginally by 1.52% to Rs 26.58 crore for the second quarter ended September 30.
Kalpataru net up
Kalpataru Power Transmission’s PAT, for quarter ended September 30, increased by 68% to Rs 37 crore compared to the same quarter in the previous year. The revenue has gone up 28% to Rs 553 crore.
