As the tension refuses to escalate on the Pakistani actors ban in Indian film industry, director Karan Johar is having the hardest time of them all. The Producer-Director’s venture Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is all set to hit the threatres but constant threats from MNS are proving to be a major hurdle. With the cameo of Pak import Fawad Khan, the film is under troubled waters. However, the only good point is the support the filmmaker has been recieving from his Industry friends.
Today, director Shyam Benegal also gave his vote in Johar’s favour after KJo put across his emotional clarification in the media. Benegal was also in news lately for approaching Fawad for a role in his upcoming despite the tension between India and Pakistan. The reports were however refuted by the celebrated director.
Benegal, 81, said that Karan chose those actors (Fawad Khan) on basis of their talent and not on basis of their country. He added that when the filmmaker started shooting, he did not know that such terrible conditions between the two nations will take place.
Talking about the video that Karan put across in media yesterday reiterating his patriotism, Shyam Benegal said ”I feel very sad that he had to make a statement like that because how can anybody doubt his patriotism or his love for this country. Does it need to be reiterated everyday of his life or my life, because there is a demand on people to prove his patriotism? Why should one do that? ”
In the video, Karan had said that for him, his country comes first and he will never again cast a Pakistani artist in his films.
