School and colleges: Some institutions, especially in states such as Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, and Odisha, may suspend classes if local conditions demand.
In certain states, schools, banks, and government offices are expected to remain shut or operate with reduced capacity because of the bandh.
Bharat Bandh Today: List of services to remain open
Despite the strike, essential services are expected to operate normally across most parts of the country.
Hospital, emergency services, and ambulances are expected to function without disruption.
Airports and railways are likely to run as scheduled, though minor delays may take place.
Power, water supply and fire services are also expected to operate.
Private offices and online services may also operate.
Citizens are advised to check local announcements before travelling or visiting banks and government offices. Transport disruptions and road blockades may occur in some cities, especially where protests are planned.
Why is there a Bharat Bandh today?
The strike has been announced by a platform of central trade unions along with support from farmer organisation. Protesters have raised concern over the labour codes, wage issues, India-US trade deal, and privatisation, which they claim could hurt workers and farmers.
Union leaders say participation could span several sectors, with millions of workers expected to join demonstrations and work stoppages across the country.
