Financial Express Online on Thursday organised the third edition of the FE Healthcare Summit. The fifth session, ‘llness to Wellness’ was a special address by Ganji Kamala V Rao, Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
During his address, Rao highlighted that fortification of food is extremely important.
“Recent high court has directed that FSSAI should inspect the level of pesticides in fruits and vegetables. The nutraceutical industry is continuously growing. These companies are coming to you with all sorts of supplements but we have to make sure that it is genuine,” he said.
The FSSAI CEO also maintained that we are increasing awareness about various aspects of food products.
He also said that there is a mushrooming growth of wellness industry. “Eat right has to be a priority…educated people should educate others,” he said.
