Once technologically ahead in 1980s with tieups with Ursus of Poland and Ford of UK., Escorts went on to allow others like Mahindra , Swaraj and even a newbie Sonalika to overtake it in every field. Ursus, the East block partner was facing survival troubles and the much advanced Ford went out of tractor business and the Indian arm had to rename its machines as 'FARMTRACK' . Escort's local efforts to bring in new technology, tying up with the Austrian engine design house AVL bore little fruits and their top of the line Ford 3600 series, rechristened as Farmtrac lose to the likes of Mahindra 475 and Swaraj 855. The company tried another b POWERTRACK range using the gearbox and hydraulics of Escort 335 and newly developed AVL engines, but could not carve the desired niche in the premium markets of Punjab and Haryana. Paddy transplanter and Ferrari tieup also went as non starter. Hope this new product would change days of our loved Escort and it tops the s charts.
