GIFT Nifty indicated that Indian equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 may see a muted opening on Friday. Here’s a look at the key stocks to watch in trade.
Stocks in Focus: GIFT Nifty was trading 25 points or 0.11% higher at 23,450 indicating a subdued start for domestic indices NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex on Friday. Previously, on Thursday, the NSE Nifty 50 closed the session 86.40 points or 0.37% higher at 23,249.50, while the BSE Sensex added 226.85 points or 0.30% to close at 76,759.81.
Stocks to watch on January 31, 2024
Tata Motors’ electric vehicle division recorded a three-month operating profit in the recently concluded December quarter for the first time since entering the space five years ago. This profit was independent of the fiscal incentives provided by the government under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme during the same period.
GAIL India
GAIL India reported a rise of 27.9% in its consolidated net profit for the third quarter of FY25 at Rs 4,084.20 crore from Rs 3,193.34 crore recorded in the same period of FY24. Sequentially, the net profit rose by 51.8% from Rs 2,689.67 crore. The revenue from operations increased by 6.2% at Rs 36,937.05 crore from the third quarter of FY24.
Bajaj Finserv reported a 3% year-on-year (YoY) rise in its consolidated profit to Rs 2,231 crore for Q3 FY25, compared with Rs 2,157.67 crore in the year-ago period, primarily driven by the performance of its lending arm Bajaj Finance. Revenues rose 10% to Rs 32,042 crore.
Bank of Baroda reported a 5.6% YoY rise in its net profit to Rs 4,837 crore for Q3 FY25, supported by a strong growth in non-interest income and advances. The public sector lender surpassed street expectations as analysts polled by Bloomberg had estimated the bank to post a net profit of Rs 4,460 crore for the quarter. Net interest income rose 3% to Rs 11,417 crore in Q3 FY25, compared with Rs 11,101 crore in the same period last year.
Sagility India
Sagility India acquired BroadPath Healthcare Solutions, a Tucson-based company renowned for its expertise in healthcare services, on January 30. With a workforce of over 1,600 employees spanning the US and the Philippines, BroadPath will bring significant strength to Sagility’s growing portfolio. While the financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, the acquisition marks a strategic move to enhance Sagility’s capabilities in the healthcare sector.
Larsen & Toubro
Larsen & Toubro reported a net profit of Rs 3358.84 crore in Q3 FY25, a growth of 13.96% compared to Rs 2947.36 crore during the same quarter of FY24, missing estimates. It posted revenue from operations at Rs 64,667.78 crore, up 17.31% as against Rs 55,127.82 crore during the third quarter of the previous financial year, on the back of strong order book and ramp-up in execution momentum across its projects & manufacturing (P&M) businesses.
Biocon reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 25 crore in Q3 FY25. The company reported a loss of Rs 16 crore in Q3 FY24. Its profit before tax (PBT) was Rs 155.9 crore, down 80.8% in Q3 FY25. The company reported operating revenue of Rs 3,821 crore in Q3 FY25, driven by sustained double-digit growth of 14% in biosimilars on a like-for-like basis and an 11% rebound in research services.
PB Fintech reported a 92% growth in net profit at Rs 72 crore in Q3 FY25, compared to Rs 37 crore in Q3 FY24. This was because of the strong performance of new health and life insurance policies. PB Fintech’s revenue from operations grew 48% YoY to Rs 1,292 crore, against Rs 871 crore in Q3 FY24.
Prestige Estates
Prestige Estates’ profit declined 85% YoY to Rs 17.70 crore in Q3 FY25, compared to Rs 116.30 crore in the same period a year ago. Its revenue fell 7.9% to Rs 1,654.50 crore against Rs 1,795.80 crore in the third quarter of the last fiscal year.
Western Carriers
Western Carriers (India) has received a work order worth Rs 170 crore from Hindustan Zinc for the movement (export and domestic movement) of finished goods from its smelting complexes to Mundra, Pipavav, Mumbai ports, HZL’s depots, and customer sites across India.
