Tata Motors is all set to unveil the highly anticipated facelifted version of the Tata Punch on January 13, 2026. The micro-SUV, which has been a bestseller since its 2021 debut with over 5 lakh units sold, receives its first major mid-life refresh, complete with sharper styling, enhanced safety, new features, fresh colour options, and a powerful new engine option.

The update aims to keep the Punch competitive in the crowded sub-4m SUV segment against rivals like the Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite, and Citroen C3, while borrowing design cues from newer Tata models such as the Nexon and Punch EV. The facelift shall also help the Punch compete against popular hatchback alternatives like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Swift, Baleno, Hyundai Grand i10 Neos and i20.

Here are the 5 big confirmed changes highlighted ahead of the launch.

1. Fresh colour palette

The facelifted Punch introduces an exciting range of six vibrant new colours: Cyantafic Blue, Caramel Yellow, Bengal Rouge Red, Daytona Grey, Coorg Clouds Silver, and Pristine White. These options should add more personality to the compact SUV, with dual-tone combinations likely available on higher variants.

2. Sharper, modern exterior design

The exterior of the Punch gets a comprehensive refresh with updated LED headlamps, sleeker LED DRLs connected by a black trim, redesigned front and rear bumpers, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and fresh LED tail lamps featuring a connected lightbar effect. These changes give the Punch a bolder, more premium stance while retaining its signature boxy silhouette.

3. Upgraded interior

Inside, the cabin sees significant enhancements, including a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, a touch-based automatic climate control panel, refreshed upholstery in blue and grey tones, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and a larger touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

4. Enhanced safety, feature Package

Safety takes a major leap with six airbags as standard across all variants (up from two in the outgoing model), along with electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a 360-degree camera on higher trims. Additional comforts include cruise control, rear AC vents, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, wireless charging, and connected car tech.

Some variants of the new Punchmay also feature advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), positioning the Punch as one of the smallest SUVs in India with such capabilities.

5. New turbo petrol engine

For the first time, the Punch will offer a turbo-petrol engine (likely the 1.2-litre unit producing around 120 PS), paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox for better performance and highway drivability. The existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol (86 PS) with 5-speed manual/AMT and CNG options will continue as the standard engine option in the lower variants.

2026 Tata Punch expected price

The 2026 Tata Punch facelift is expected to be priced starting around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom), with final details to be announced tomorrow. Customer deliveries are likely to begin shortly after the launch.
