Maruti Suzuki India Limited has commenced exports of its made-in-India premium SUV Victoris, which has been renamed Across for international markets. The nameplate is not new to Suzuki’s global portfolio—the company had earlier sold a rebadged version of the Toyota RAV4 as the Across in select overseas markets under the Toyota–Suzuki alliance. The first export consignment, comprising over 450 units, has been shipped from Mundra Port and Pipavav Port. Key destination markets for the new Across include Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, among others.
Rebranding for Global Reach
The Across is offered with pure petrol as well as petrol-hybrid powertrain options. In India, the SUV has been on sale since September 2025 and has posted average monthly sales of over 10,000 units, underlining strong domestic traction. On the safety front, the model has secured five-star ratings from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP, a key credential for acceptance in international markets where safety regulations and consumer awareness are steadily tightening.
Commenting on the export push, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, said, “the company’s international expansion remains closely aligned with the Make in India initiative. Maruti Suzuki exported over 3.9 lakh vehicles in calendar year 2025, maintaining its position as India’s leading passenger vehicle exporter. Between 2020 and 2025, the company’s exports grew 4.67 times, significantly outperforming the broader industry’s growth of 1.43 times.”
Beyond Victoris/Across, Maruti Suzuki exports a wide range of made-in-India models to overseas markets in both left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive configurations, with several vehicles also sold internationally as rebadged Toyotas under the alliance framework.
