IT major Wipro has received yet another anonymous e-mail demanding Rs 500 crore in bitcoin currency. The mail warned of a biochemical attack if the company did not agree to pay the ransom. On May 5, Wipro had received a similar e-mail.
According the police, the second e-mail has also come from the same address, and the sender warned Wipro of dire consequences if the ransom was not paid within 72 hours. The police said the IP address of the e-mail was traced to Switzerland but also added that it could be masked.
The mail sent from one email@example.com stated, “If you ignore my threats, you will face severe trouble. This is the last chance I am giving you to pay the ransom or get ready to face the disaster.”
