Flipkart clocks record sales for Moto G5 Plus, sells 50 units per minute

Flipkart claims that it has witnessed record sales on the first day of launch of the much awaited The Moto G5 Plus smartphone.

India’s largest e-commerce market place, has once again taken the online shopping industry by a storm. The company claims that it has witnessed record sales on the first day of launch of the much awaited The Moto G5 Plus smartphone. The company claims to have sold about 50 units per minute. The phone was in so much demand that The Moto G5 Plus 3GB/16GB variant went out of stock within the first few minutes of the sale opening.

One of the major reasons behind the massive sale was Flipkart’s BuyBack Guarantee program. Under this scheme, the website gave its customers a BuyBack price of INR. 7000 on The Moto G5 Plus if it is exchanged within 6 months of purchase. This offer is available till 31st March and can be availed along with exchange offer of up to INR. 13500 off on Flipkart. Responding to this scheme, over 4000 older Motorola phones were exchanged for a new G5 Plus.

The phone also received a positive initial response from the users and word of mouth will help its sale in the coming days. The Moto G5 Plus received a 5 star on over 90% of those ratings. With the launch of this phone, Flipkart has taken another major step in making smartphones affordable. The director of Flipkart, Ayyappan R called it a huge success by saying, “To further fuel the digital transition in India, we are committed to easing the burden of owning a smart device for our customers through Flipkart innovations such as the BuyBack Guarantee program, in addition to product exchange and no cost EMI.”

He added, “True to its #Uncompromise motto, the overwhelming response to the exclusive launch of the Moto G5 Plus reflects customers demands to have access to latest and affordable technology. This reinforces the strong belief our customers have in Flipkart, making us the dominant player in the online smartphones market.” Over 50% of the sales have been made using Flipkart’s affordability programs like No Cost EMI, Product Exchange and BuyBack Guarantee.

    lol. Moto G5 is the dumbest phone ever! It was launched as a flash and it is in stock till now. Why would anybody spend 16k-17k for such a dumb phone? False claims by Flipkart just to attract customers!
