Karnataka Elections LIVE updates: With only two days left for Karnataka Assembly elections, both Congress and BJP have intensified their respective campaigns. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address four rallies in Bangarpet, Chikmagalur, Belgavi and Bidar, while Congress chief Rahul Gandhi will hold meetings and roadshows across the state capital of Bengaluru. At one such meeting, Gandhi said, “as a political analyst, I will tell you, that it is highly unlikely that the BJP will form the next government. And it is close to impossible that Narendra Modi will be the Prime Minister of India after the next polls.” BJP chief Amit Shah will also conduct meetings and roadshows in Bengaluru and Tumkur district of Karnataka.

Meanwhile on Tuesday midnight, nearly 10,000 voter ID cards and two trunks of ‘counter papers’ were found in an apartment in Bengaluru. The apartment belongs to Congress legislator Manjula Nanjamari, who had rented it to her son, who contested in 2015 Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (an administrative body responsible for the civic and infrastructural assets of the Greater Bangalore) elections with a BJP ticket. This led to BJP and Congress accusing each other of the deed.

5:23 PM: Yogi Aditya Nath said, “Siddaramaiah govt will resort to all kinds of unscrupulous activities in the election. Their ministers are distributing money to influence voters. Fake voter ID Cards were found. EC should take this seriously. Trends are in favour of BJP. We’ll form govt with an absolute majority.”

4:53 PM: Amit Shah while holding a roadshow in Bengaluru says, “Congress & JDS are supporting each other. This just shows their desperation to win the elections. People are going to vote for the BJP on May 12 & Congress is going to lose.” He also went on to say that BJP will form government in Karnataka with full majority and will bring development, and “Who is Congress to accuse us in voter ID scam? Their corporator has been arrested, , it is their deed.”

4:31 PM: “Manjula Nanjamari, owner of the flat where fake voter IDs were found, was a BJP corporator, for past 15 years she has no link with BJP. We demand investigation & immediate countermanding of election in Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency,” said Sambit Patra, spokesperson of BJP

3:56 PM: Amit Shah tweeted blaming Congress for the fake voter IDs that were discovered in Bengaluru, and alleged the party to be fake about ‘their tears for the poor, their claims of development, their commitment to social justice’. He also appealed the citizens of Karnataka to be more diligent while voting, in his series of tweets.

2:49 PM: PM Modi while campaigning for BJP in Chikkamagaluru said, “Making multiple fake voter ID Cards to win elections is the tactic of Congress, people should never forgive such party. Fearing a crushing defeat, Congress is indulging in all kinds of malpractices.”

2:45 PM: “If you look at Congress leadership, the kind of politics Rahul Gandhi’s doing, when he says he can be the PM, no one takes him seriously. People think he’s dreaming. Congress has failed in providing a strong leadership,” said Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while addressing a rally in Hubli.

2:43 PM: “From 1997-2002 I was a corporator, and BJP helped me win. I was just a housewife and BJP supported me, so I consider myself under their ‘sharan’. I am not a Congress person, will never be,” said Manjula Nanjamari in an interview.

2:38 PM: Manjula Nanjamari, owner of Bengaluru flat where 9746 voter IDs were found, said that Rakesh who was believed to be the tenant of the apartment is a fake news. The real tenants are Rekha and Rangaraju, who rented the apartment to dump some of their ‘office stuff’.

12:24 PM: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accused the BJP of misusing the government machinery, over the raids conducted in the poll-bound state. “Congress is constantly under surveillance of BJP government. This is the 12th time, I am fighting elections but for the first time, these raids are being conducted at the time of elections. They are misusing government machinery, it is Election Commission’s job to investigate not theirs,” said Siddaramaiah.
