Q2 Earnings 2024: The second quarter earnings season for the financial year 2024-25 has already started and quite a few in the likes of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HCL Technologies, Reliance Industries, have already released their Q2 results. While the results flow is yet to take a full acceleration, market participants and investors today are looking forward to Q2 results announcement by HDFC Life Insurance Company, HDFC Asset Management Company, PVR INOX, DB Corp, Bank of Maharashtra, KEI Industries, Lactose (India), and others.
Yesterday saw majors like Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and HCL Tech announce their Q2 results with RIL posting a profit decline of 4.8 per cent on-year at Rs 16,563 crore and revenue at Rs 235,481 crore. Meanwhile, HCL Tech recorded Q2 profit at Rs 4,237 crore, up 10.5 per cent YoY and revenue at Rs 28,862 crore.
Today, companies like HDFC Life Insurance Company, HDFC Asset Management Company, PVR INOX, DB Corp, Bank of Maharashtra, KEI Industries, Lactose (India), and many others will release their Q2FY25 results.
“All our key markets have performed well during the quarter with APAC witnessing strong growth for two consecutive quarters now. While Banking & Financial Services continue to be our core verticals, we saw increasing traction in the Insurance and Government segment in the quarter,” said Virender Jeet, CEO, Newgen Software.

Newgen Software Technologies Ltd on Tuesday posted Q2FY25 profit at Rs 70.33 crore, reporting growth of 47.2 per cent in comparison to Rs 47.79 crore during the corresponding quarter of FY24. It posted revenue from operations at Rs 361.16 crore, up 22.9 per cent as against Rs 293.24 crore during the second quarter of previous financial year. The company EBITDA went up by 73 per cent to Rs 83 crore.
Vibha Padalkar, Managing Director and CEO, HDFC Life, said, “The private sector and overall industry continued its strong momentum in Q2, growing in H1FY25 by 24% and 21% respectively on an individual weighted received premium basis. We have outperformed the private sector by growing at 28% during this period and 19% on a 2 year CAGR basis. We registered an increase of 22% in the number of policies, which was significantly ahead of the private sector growth of 13%. We experienced secular growth trends across Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 geographies.”
“On the regulatory front, we have successfully relaunched more than 40 top products contributing to about 95% of the business, in alignment with revised regulations as on October 1, 2024 and we plan to relaunch other products during the course of the quarter. We are thankful to the regulator in allowing us an additional time of three months for transitioning to the new product regulations,” she added.
HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd on Tuesday posted Q2FY25 profit at Rs 435.18 crore, up 15.1 per cent in comparison to Rs 378.20 crore during the corresponding quarter of previous financial year. Net commission for the quarter came in at Rs 1854.61 crore. While the company recorded the new business premium at Rs 8097 crore, posting a growth of 14 per cent YoY, total APE came in at Rs 3858 crore, up 26.7 per cent as against Rs 3045 crore YoY.

Bank of Maharashtra on Tuesday posted Q2FY25 profit at Rs 1327.08 crore, up 44.3 per cent in comparison to Rs 919.75 crore during the corresponding quarter of FY24. The total income recorded during the quarter in review stood at Rs 6309.43 crore, up 10.0 per cent as against Rs 5735.54 crore during the second quarter of previous fiscal year. The NII came in at Rs 2806.8 crore, up 15.4 per cent on-year.
While the gross NPA stood at 1.84 per cent vs 2.19 per cent on-year, the percentage of net NPA was recorded at 0.20 per cent vs 0.23 per cent YoY.

During the quarter in review, PVR Inox recorded 38.8 million admissions with an ATP of Rs 257 and SPH of Rs 136. In the first half of the year, the company recorded 69.2 million admissions with an ATP of Rs 247 and SPH of Rs 135. The Indian box office collections witnessed a significant QoQ growth of 40 per cent in Q2FY25, reflecting strong audience turnout and solid performance across multiple film releases.
“The resurgence in collections was largely driven by Hindi-language films, which saw an impressive 91 per cent increase in collections compared to the previous quarter. A major contributor to this success was the record-breaking performance of Stree 2, which has now become the highest-grossing Hindi movie of all time. Additionally, Kalki, released at the end of Q1FY25, continued to perform strongly across both Hindi and Telugu markets, further boosting box office numbers,” it said in a statement.
PVR Inox announced the appointment of Vishal Kashyap Mahadevia as an Additional Director, designated as Independent Director on the Board of the Company for a period of five consecutive years commencing from 22nd October, 2024.
Vishal Mahadevia is Head of Asia Private Equity and Co-Head of Financial Services, and a member of the Executive Management Group at Warburg Pincus. Prior to joining Warburg Pincus in 2006, he worked with private equity funds, Greenbriar Equity Group, and Three Cities Research. He also worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Company.
He received a B.S. in Economics with a concentration in Finance and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
PVR Inox Ltd on Tuesday released its fiscal second quarter earnings with loss at Rs 11.80 crore in comparison to a profit of Rs 166.30 recorded during the corresponding quarter of previous financial year. It posted revenue from operations at Rs 1622.10 crore, down 18.9 per cent YoY as against Rs 1999.90 crore during the same period of last year. The company EBITDA stood at Rs 479 crore.
According to a CNBC TV18 poll, PVR Inox was expected to report a loss at Rs 8.5 crore during Q2FY25 and revenue was estimated at Rs 1559.9 crore.
HDFC Asset Management Company will release its Q2FY25 results today. During the previous quarter, the company recorded profit at Rs 477.41 crore, up 26.9 per cent as against Rs 376.17 crore during the same quarter last year. It posted revenue from operations at Rs 574.54 crore, up 6.2 per cent on-year in comparison to Rs 540.95 crore during the first quarter of FY23. The company posted total income during the quarter at Rs 732.62 crore and total expenses stood at Rs 161.36 crore. HDFC AMC operates from its 229 branches and 75K+ distribution partners across the country.
