It has been over two years since Hero Motocorp and Harley-Davidson brought the X440 roadster to India. Positioned as a premium city tourer, the X440 didn’t set the sales charts on fire, but it helped establish Harley as a more accessible entry model into its elite lineup of big motorcycles. Now, the Hero-Harley duo has unveiled an updated version of the X440 ahead of an official launch event next week, and based on what we see, there are some major changes. The new motorcycle is called the Harley-Davidson X440 T.
The new Harley-Davidson X440 T showcases a motorcycle that seems to offer distinct aesthetic refinements over the standard X440 model. The ‘T’ variant appears to be more of a design evolution, focusing on a more aggressive and modern rear profile that seems to be inspired by the legendary Harley Davidson XR1200.
The X440 T, which arrives more than two years after the debut of the original X440, features a new rear three-quarter section and a host of new colourways.
Harley-Davidson X440 T: Key changes spotted for 2026 model
The primary modification on the X440 T is its more angular and proportionate rear end. Unlike the standard X440, the ‘T’ variant reduces the amount of empty space between the rear wheel and the fender – a highly controversial matter for the original model. The redesign changes the visual bulk on the rear quarter, making the motorcycle seem more muscular.
Other than the updated rear end of the motorcycle, the X440 T also gets several aesthetic upgrades:
– Bar-end mirrors add to a sporty touch.
– The X440 T is being launched in four new colours, providing consumers with greater choice and helping the model stand out from its predecessor.
Hero and Harley-Davidson have not shared any other data related to the engine specs and other performance aspects, thus hinting at a cosmetic update only.
Harley Davidson X440 T: Expected specs and India price
It is widely anticipated that the X440 T will share its core mechanical specifications with the X440. The original Harley-Davidson X440 is built around a 440cc single-cylinder, air-oil-cooled engine, known for its strong, low-end torque-centric performance. The ‘T’ variant is expected to retain this powertrain, focusing its differentiation purely on cosmetic upgrades and ergonomics rather than performance changes.
With performance expected to remain unchanged, Hero and Harley could tweak the tuning and work on overall refinements to make the motorcycle ride better. Harley is officially expected to launch the motorcycle in the second week of December 2025, thus ending the year on a high note.
As far as the prices are concerned, the 2026 updates to the Harley-Davidson X440 T could result in a mild price bump, while the older X440 could continue to sell at its current starting price of Rs 2.4 lakhs ex-showroom. The updated X440 T could compete with the Royal Enfield Guerilla 450 and Triumph Speed T4 in the premium category.
