Indian ‘athlete’ Tanveer Hussain has been accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in New York. The Kashmiri youth was in the US for a snowshoe contest and a charge of endangering the welfare of a child has also been slapped on him, according to the police. The police said that the assault happened on Monday in a village located in Adirondack Mountains. The incident was reported to the Saranac Lake Village police by the girl herself and her parents. Police, in a statement, said that the 24-year-old had engaged in a “passionate kiss” with the 12 year old girl. The girl and her parents did not make any allegations. No accusation of force was made on the 24-year Kashmiri youth. Tanveer Hussain was jailed on Thursday and was let off on bail for $5,000 after his attorney entered a “not-guilty” plea.
Defending his inability to evaluate the case, Brian Barrett, Hussain’s attorney said that there was “limited communication” between the Kashmiri youth and him. Tanveer Hussain along with Abid Khan, the president of the Snowshoe Federation of India had initially faced problems getting a visa after US President Donald Trump had implemented the travel ban on seven countries, even when it did not include India.
