Kailash Vijayvargiya, the veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader, was surprised after being named as one of the poll candidates for the upcoming state polls. Vijayvargiya has been named to contest election for Indore- 1 constituency of Madhya Pradesh.
Though he said that he was not interested in contesting elections, he also said that he believed in the ‘God’s will’. “I had planned eight public meetings — five by helicopter and three by car. But what you think never happens. What happens in God’s will. He wants me to contest elections, go back to the people again. I still can’t believe that I am a candidate, that I have been given a ticket.”
However he doesn’t show his unpreparedness in the event and looks for greater goals by saying, “A lot of work has to be done in this constituency. Indore-1 will become number one in development also. Our victory will also be number one. I had no wish to fight the elections. I had made plans for a public address. Now I still cannot believe I have become a candidate and have been given a ticket by our party.”
Vijayvargiya has served as Indore Mayor and Madhya Pradesh minister previously. Addressing his supporters at an event, he said though he was not ‘happy from within’, he was a soldier of the party and would do anything that the party ordered. The BJP veteran added that he was both ‘confused and surprised’ at the party’s decision.
The second list of candidates released by BJP recently had more surprising elements as the party named three Union Ministers and several MPs including, Ganesh Mantri, Rakesh Singh, Reeti Pathak and Minister of State for Rural Development Phaggan Kulaste for Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.
