Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Thursday. This was her third visit to the state that is scheduled for Assembly Election later this year. During her rally in Bhilai, Priynaka Gandhi took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said that while the PM’s industrialist friends are making crores, the farmers of the country are struggling. She said that while a farmer in India is earling just Rs 27 a day, there are industrialists, who make Rs 1,600 crore in 24 hours.
Attending the Mahila Samriddhi Conference, Priyanka Gandhi raised the issues of unemployment and inflation in the country. The conference took place in Bhilai, which is a Congress bastion. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel welcomed Priyanka Gandhi and the Congress general secretary was seen joining women for folk dance. Speaking at the conference, Priyanka Gandhi said that the BJP-led Central government is manipulating people in the name of religion and caste, so that important topics could not come up on the surface.
She highlighted the spendings of the BJP government during the G20 Summit in New Delhi, claiming that a staggering amount of Rs 27,000 crore was spent for Yashobhoomi (an international convention center where the G20 took place), Rs 20,000 crore for the new Parliament building, and Rs 8,000 crore each for two aircraft. While the Centre is spending so lavishly, there is no upkeep of the roads of the country, Priyanka Gandhi said. She also spoke about the high prices of gas cylinders and oil, which have made poor people’s lives more miserable.
She also highlighted the current government achievements, claiming better economic lives for farmers, the introduction of ration cards, and lowered electricity bills. The leader inaugurated Bhoomi Pujan of development works that include education and the health sector.
Additionally, CM Baghel announced the launch of the Chhattisgarh Mahtari Cultural Promotion Scheme (`Chhattisgarh Mahtari Sanskritik Sanvardhan Yojana’) that is aimed at promoting cultural and historical heritage and tourism in Chhattisgarh.
