Based on Tinku’s statement, police registered a case at Sector 10 police station under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with an attempt to murder.
The incident took place around 10.30 pm on Sunday, near a Swiggy warehouse in Hayatpur. According to police, Tinku was standing outside the warehouse with his motorcycle when Naveen arrived in his black Scorpio SUV, which was fitted with a siren. Without warning, the doctor rammed his SUV into Tinku and his bike, throwing the delivery rider onto the road.
Old grudge led to violent attack
According to TOI, citing a police official, “Naveen said the delivery partner frequently parked his motorcycle in a narrow lane near his residence in Bhagat Singh Colony, which caused inconvenience while taking his vehicle out.”
“He carried this grievance for some time and attacked the victim in a fit of rage,” the officer added. During the attack, Naveen allegedly threatened to kill Tinku, police said.
CCTV footage from the area captured the horrifying incident. “The footage shows the accused driving at speed, hitting the victim and then reversing the vehicle before moving forward again to ram him repeatedly,” a police officer told TOI.
The video shows Naveen running over the delivery rider three to four times before fleeing the spot. Other delivery partners can be seen standing at a distance, some trying to record the incident on their mobile phones. Another CCTV clip shows the accused driving recklessly, smashing into the motorcycle, reversing again and again, and damaging it further.
After the attack, Tinku was first taken to a government hospital in Sector 10, Gurgaon. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was later referred to a private hospital in Rewari, police said. A police team from the Sector 93 police post later arrested Naveen and seized his Scorpio SUV from his residence.
