Ola Electric Mobility Ltd. on Monday rolled out its first ‘Shakti’, a portable energy storage system for homes and offices, from its cell manufacturing Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The launch marks the company’s entry into the residential battery energy storage system (BESS) market and takes it beyond the automotive segment. The system is fully powered by Ola Electric’s indigenous ‘4680 Bharat Cells’ platform.
“Our Cell business is ramping up with full Indian R&D. Researched in India, Engineered in India, Made in India,” Ola Electric Chairman and MD Bhavish Aggarwal said in a post on X.
What did Ola Electric spokesperson say?
“Powered by our indigenous 4680 Bharat Cell, Ola Shakti makes reliable, affordable, and intelligent energy storage accessible to every Indian home, farm, and business,” an Ola Electric spokesperson said in an exchange filing.
According to the company, Ola Shakti offers automotive-grade safety, high efficiency, and zero running and maintenance costs. Unlike conventional lead-acid inverters or diesel generators, the system features instant 0 ms changeover time, operates across a wide input voltage range of 200V–240V to protect appliances from voltage fluctuations, and is spill-proof with IP67-rated batteries tested for dust, water, and monsoon conditions.
Users will have real-time visibility into battery status and energy flow, with the system learning usage patterns to optimise energy consumption and provide actionable insights to help save money and power. Ola Shakti is available in four configurations—1kW/1.5kWh, 1kW/3kWh, 3kW/5.2kWh, and 6kW/9.1kWh. The system can power air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers, farm pumps, and communication equipment, with charging times of as little as two hours and backup of up to 1.5 hours at full load.
Pricing and Availability
As per its website, the 1.5kWh Ola Shakti system is priced at ₹39,999, while the 5.2kWh variant costs ₹1,49,999. The 9.1kWh version is priced at ₹1,99,999. The products are available for reservation on the Ola Electric website for ₹999.
Ola Electric is increasingly banking on ancillary revenue streams such as spare parts and its battery energy storage system (BEES) vertical as its core electric two-wheeler sales remain under pressure. In its second-quarter earnings, the company said it expects the BEES business to generate ₹100 crore in revenue in Q4FY26 and ₹1,000–1,200 crore in FY27, with gross margins of 40–50%. It has cut its consolidated revenue guidance for FY26 to ₹3,000–3,200 crore from ₹4,200–4,700 crore earlier, citing a weaker outlook for two-wheeler sales.
Shares of Ola Electric closed flat at ₹39.49 on the NSE.
