Jeep has introduced the all-new Compass SUV in Brazil to celebrate the commencement of production at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA)’s Jeep Assembly plant in Goiana, Pernambuco. The new Jeep Compass is powered by a 2.0 L and a 2.4 L engine in international markets. In order to appeal to a wider base of consumers across geographies, the Compass will be offered in 17 powertrain configurations. The Jeep Compass is equipped with a 4X4 system in line with the off-road heritage of the brand.
With the introduction of the Compass compact SUV, the company intends to expand its footprint globally, especially in emerging regions such as Brazil and India. Along with off-road driving dynamics, the Compass is also claimed to offer a spacious cabin, loaded with a host of safety and convenience technologies. The new SUV is also equipped with active and passive features, allowing it to pass legislative requirements across countries.
The Jeep Compass will be locally manufactured at FCA's plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, and is slated for start of production (SOP) around mid-2017 in India. Before the official launch of the new Jeep Compass, the carmaker will debut the SUV at Los Angeles Auto Show as well in November this year.
