2017 Yamaha R15 v2.0 for representation purpose only
A dealer in Indonesia has introduced a special edition of the Yamaha R15 v3.0 in the country that gets new features and body colour. The Yamaha R15 v3.0 special edition gets 17-inch alloy wheels finished in gold colour and new jet black body colour with gold decals. The changes are just cosmetic, while the motorcycle remains unchanged mechanically. The special edition motorcycle is priced at IDR 3 million more than the standard model at IDR 34.5 million OTR, Jakarta or Rs 1.67 lakh.
The Yamaha R15 v3.0 is powered by a new 155.1 cc fuel injected SOHC VVA engine that develops 19.3 hp of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 8.500 rpm. The unit is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The special edition model gets an upside-down front fork and a monoshock suspend at the rear.
The motorcycle also features an aluminium swingarm, LED headlamp and a fully-digital instrument cluster with shift light. The Yamaha R15 v3.0 special edition gets front and rear disc brakes and a 100-section tyre at the front & a 140-section tyre at the rear. The fuel tank capacity is 11 litres and the motorcycle weighs 137 kg.
Yamaha is planning to launch the R15 v3.0 in India later this year or early next year. It will be powered by the same 155 cc liquid cooled single-cylinder engine with the cylinder forged from aluminum, a 5.5 litre air filter, 30 mm intake port and a higher compression ratio of 11.6:1 as compared to the existing model. The engine will also have the company's patented Blue Core technology for better fuel combustion and efficiency. The Yamaha R15 v3.0 is expected to compete with the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar RS200.
