In an effort to create favourable conditions for indigenous solar manufacturing capability and market leadership in the country, minister for new & renewable energy Farooq Abdullah is leading a Ficci solar energy business delegation and senior officials to Intersolar Europe 2011, Munich, Germany.

Prior to Intersolar Europe conference, during the week long visit from June 6-10, the Ficci mission will also visit Berlin, Halle, and Bitterfeld (Germany?s leading cluster for solar energy) to create an interface between Indian solar companies and the leading international counterparts.

The industry chamber told FE that ?the visit to Intersolar will provide market access to Indian companies, create linkages between the Indian firms and their global counterparts which would help them in developing a platform for technology transfer, joint venture initiatives and investment opportunities.?

Also, visit to Berlin would include business meetings, seminar on ?Opportunities in India?s Solar Industry? The delegation will Solar Valley? near Bitterfeld.

The minister on June 8 will deliver the keynote address at a conference on ?Destination India: Making India the solar capital of the world?, during the Intersolar conference, which is being organised by the Ficci.

The aim of the conference is to create an awareness of the Indian policy and business environment to support the solar industry and to reach out to the global audience for collaborative partnerships and tie-ups for the Indian solar energy industry.

Some of the leading companies in the delegation include Tata BP Solar, Moser Baer Solar, Lanco Solar, ACME Telepower Ltd, Applied Materials, Astonfield Renewable Resources Ltd, Azure Power, Green Infra Limited, Gujarat Borosil Limited, Indosolar, KPMG Advisory Services, RRB Energy, Thermax Limited, and Videocon Industries.
