Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chopper on Thursday crash landed in Latur. Fadnavis and his team escaped unhurt. Our helicopter did meet with an accident in Latur but me and my team is absolutely safe, nothing to worry, tweeted Fadnavis. Footage from television channels showed a damaged helicopter.  Press Trust of India reported that chopper developed a technical snag while taking off from the helipad at Nilanga where the chief minister had gone for an event. “Nobody got hurt. My media advisor Ketan Pathak has suffered minor injuries. With the blessings of 11 crore people of Maharashtra, I am safe,” PTI quoted reporters as saying in Nilanga. “This is a new helicopter. We will seek information from police on this incident,” the chief minister added. Recently, while visiting Gadchiroli in Vidarbha region, his helicopter had suffered a technical snag, following which he had travel by road to Nagpur.

Earlier in the day, CM Fadnavis launched ‘Shivar Samwad Sabha’, an initiative to reach out to farmers in the state. The Chief Minister was in Latur for the launch of event. He visited Latur’s Halgara village as a part of the initiative. “Villagers in Halgara(Latur) are successfully working for water conservation since 50days by ‘Shramdan’. I contributed too,” Fadnavis said in an earlier Tweet.

“After so much of hardwork for water conservation, Halgara village(Latur) aspires to become a model village,” Fadnavis Tweeted. He further promised to make the village a model village, also tweeting a video of the same.

He then met the farmers in Latur district of Marathwada region. The government’s initiative comes amid the rising resentment among farmers across the state over delay in procurement of tur this year.  As per the programme, BJP’s state unit president Raosaheb Patil will interact with the cultivators in Nandurbar district in North Maharashtra. Nearly 4,000 elected representatives of the party will participate in the campaign and hold meetings with farmers at various locations.
