Ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer has joined the training camp of his team. There were suspicions over Iyer’s participation in the initial part of the league due to his back-related problems.
On Saturday, Kolkata Knight Riders posted pictures of the skipper arriving in Kolkata.
Iyer missed Indian Premier League 2023
Iyer had missed the last Indian Premier League season as he underwent a back surgery in April. In September, he returned to action but his back continued to cause him discomfort.
Against England, Iyer played the opening two tests before complaining of back stiffness following which he was removed from the Indian squad for the last three matches.
He skipped Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy quarterfinal as well. However, he played the semifinal and final. Due to a back problem, he was not able to take the field on the last two days of the final against Vidarbha.
He plays as a right-handed batter. For the Indian team, Iyer has played in all formats.
