The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates to December 14, 2024. “#UIDAI extends free online document upload facility till 14th December 2024; to benefit millions of Aadhaar Number Holders. This free service is available only on #myAadhaar portal. UIDAI has been encouraging people to keep documents updated in their #Aadhaar,” UIDAI posted on social media X, formerly Twitter.

UIDAI encourages citizens, especially those with Aadhaar cards issued over 10 years ago, to review and update their details. However, updating Aadhaar information is not mandatory.

Aadhaar is a unique identifier linked to individual biometrics, preventing duplication and fraudulent identities. By reducing duplicates and fake identities, Aadhaar helps the government efficiently direct benefits to eligible residents.
