The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is expected to soon launch its digital platform EPFO ​​3.0 in 2025, which aims to make services more accessible, transparent and quick for employees. The government recently shortlisted IT giants like Infosys, Wipro and TCS for the “next stage of selection” process for developing and maintaining the system, which will make possible automated PF withdrawal and integrated ATM facility.

Although the launch of this platform was expected in June 2025, it has been delayed due to some technical reasons and tests. Nevertheless, the launch of EPFO ​​3.0 is likely to bring many important benefits to around 8 crore employees.

1. Direct PF withdrawal from ATM

    Under EPFO ​​3.0, members will be able to withdraw their EPF funds directly from the ATM, just like they withdraw money from a bank account. For this, they have to activate their Universal Account Number (UAN) and link Aadhaar to their bank account. This facility will be helpful for employees to meet immediate financial needs.

    2. Instant PF withdrawal through UPI

      Through EPFO ​​3.0, members will now be able to withdraw their PF funds through UPI as well. This facility will provide employees quick access to their funds without any lengthy process, helping them in emergency situations.

      3. Online claims and correction facility

        Under EPFO ​​3.0, employees will no longer need to visit EPFO ​​offices to correct their PF claims and personal details. They will be able to correct their accounts through OTP and track the status of claims online. This will make the process simple and transparent.

        4. Quick settlement of death claims

          EPFO has recently issued a directive under which settlement of claims in cases of death will be simplified and quick. Guardianship certificates will no longer be required for minors, allowing their families to get quick assistance.

          5. Better digital experience

            Under EPFO ​​3.0, employees will get a better and user-friendly digital experience. Through the new features, they will be able to easily track the status, contributions and other details of their PF accounts. This digital transformation will make EPFO ​​services more accessible to employees.

            Delay in launch of EPFO ​​3.0

            Although the launch of EPFO ​​3.0 was planned in June 2025, it has been delayed due to technical tests and other reasons. Continuous efforts are being made by the EPFO ​​​​and the concerned ministries to make this platform more useful for the employees.
