Good news for all Aadhaar users! Now you can change the mobile number, address, name or date of birth in the Aadhaar card online. From November 2025, you will not need to go to the Aadhaar centre to update many information related to Aadhaar, according to a Times of India report. Now you will have to go to the centre only for a biometric update, i.e., a fingerprint and iris scan, it said.

What will change now in Aadhaar updation rules?

UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) is going to implement a new system, under which your data will be automatically taken directly from other government databases. This will include information like PAN card, ration card, passport, driving licence, MNREGA, birth certificate and matriculation mark sheet. Through this, information like your address, name, date of birth and mobile number will be confirmed in Aadhaar, and you will not even need to upload documents.

According to the report, UIDAI is also preparing to link electricity bill data, so that proving the address becomes even easier.

Aadhaar photocopy will no longer be needed

Soon, a new mobile app will be launched, which will have the facility of QR code-based electronic Aadhaar. With this, instead of giving a photocopy of Aadhaar to someone, you will be able to share a digital or masked Aadhaar. This will reduce the trend of fake Aadhaar cards and will also curb Aadhaar-related fraud.

At present, you can change your address online, but for this, it is necessary to have a mobile number linked to Aadhaar. If the mobile is not linked or the myAadhaar portal is not working, then you have to go to the Aadhaar center.

But if you want to change the name, mobile number or date of birth, then as of today, this work can be done only from the Aadhaar center. That is, for this it is still necessary to take an appointment with the documents and stand in the queue.

Why are these changes necessary?

Now, updating any information in Aadhaar becomes a headache for many people. Taking an appointment, taking leave, filling forms, and carrying documents is a hassle for the general public. This new step of UIDAI will save people’s time and will also control fraud and forgery related to Aadhaar.

When will you have to go to Aadhaar centre?

According to UIDAI, now you will have to go to the Aadhaar centre only to update your fingerprint or iris scan. All other information – like address, name, date of birth, and mobile number – you will be able to update online from home.

If you have not linked the mobile number yet, then get it done as soon as possible. With this, you will be able to take full advantage of the digital changes coming.

This new digital model of UIDAI will completely change your Aadhaar experience. The work that is done today with long lines and paperwork will be completed on your mobile in a few clicks. From November 2025, updating Aadhaar is going to be easier, faster, and safer than ever.
