With the upcoming revision, employees can expect an even more substantial increase in their take-home salaries.”

A fitment factor between 2.6 and 2.85 could result in a 25-30% increase in basic pay, along with proportional pension hikes. According to the calculation, an employee currently earning a basic salary of Rs 20,000 may see their earnings rise to between Rs 46,600 and Rs 57,200. Additionally, the minimum basic salary is anticipated to exceed Rs 40,000, accompanied by revised perks, allowances and performance-based pay.

Government employees are presently paid based on the 7th Pay Commission. The proposed fitment factor adjustments will have a direct impact on their earnings. For instance, if set at 2.0, the basic salary could rise to Rs 36,000—a significant 100% increase. Similarly, a fitment factor of 2.08 would push the lowest basic salary to Rs 37,440, marking a 108% surge. Pensioners will also benefit, with the minimum pension potentially increasing to Rs 18,720.
