Railway-linked shares fell up 10 per cent after Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu concluded the Rail Budget 2016 speech in Parliament where he left the passengers fares and freight rates unchanged.
Share price of BEML, Kalindee Rail, Hind Rectifiers closed 4.06 per cent, 9.26 per cent and 7.69 per cent down at Rs 976.65, Rs 122.50 and Rs 63.
Other rail related companies such as Titagarh Wagons and Texmaco Rail also slid 8.40 per cent, 8.78 per cent to Rs 113.35 and Rs 119.55, respectively.
Stone India shares plunged 5.74 per cent to Rs 64.05. Kernex Microsystems (India) settled 4.89 per cent down at Rs 35.95.
Prabhu did not announce any changes in passenger fares and freight rates in Railway Budget for 2016-17.
Railways have earned Rs 136,079.26 crore as against the target of Rs 141,416.05 crore during April-January period, a decline of 3.77 per cent.
