The festive cheer lit up Dalal Street on Friday as Indian markets ended the session on a positive note, extending their winning streak ahead of Diwali.
The Sensex settled at 83,952.19, gaining 0,58%, while the Nifty 50 closed at 25,709.85, up 0.49%. The Nifty Bank too joined the rally, opening at 57,713,35 and rising 0.51% by the end of the session.

On the other hand, information technology and metal stocks were under pressure. Infosys, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, and Power Grid were among the key laggards.
Midday movers
In broader market action, Wipro declined over 4% in intraday trade after its Q2 results. Asian Paints continued to see traction, rising nearly 5% during the session. Whirlpool of India gained around 10%, while Natco Pharma advanced after a Supreme Court ruling removed a legal hurdle in its dispute with Roche.
