An IIT Bombay girl Aditi Laddha has landed a top US job during during this year’s campus placement that commenced on December 1. According to a TOI report, Laddha has been offered the job by Uber International which made the highest offer to students across some of the IITs during this year’s placements. She is the only girl from the institute to land a US job, probably among the other IITs too. Among other girls from the class who got good placements this year were Palak Jain (AIR 3 in JEE-Main 2013) and Charmi Dedhia (Mumbai topper, JEE-Advanced 2013). Both were hired by Google for their India office, but the former got placed through the pre-placement route.

Laddha, hailing from Ratlam in MP had cleared JEE (Advanced) with an all-India rank (AIR) of six in 2013. Blockbuster offers are raining for IIT students at the campus placement season. Big corporate players like Samsung and Microsoft are offering dream packages to the students. On Day One of placements Samsung selected around 10 IITians –five from IIT-Bombay and rest from IIT-Delhi and IIT-Kanpur. While, Uber International was the second big player to dole out massive package of Rs 75 lakh (base salary) at IIT-Madras, Microsoft picked five students from the Powai campus. Companies coming for campus placement is less this year as compared to last year, as many leading startups Flipkart, Ola and Snapdeal have decided to not take part in the hiring process at IITs.
