Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), a Pune based institution has entered into an academic collaboration with A-Star Academy to introduce new programmes in hospitality education.
The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the university’s main building in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Gosavi. The agreement was signed on behalf of A-Star Academy by Romie Dutt, Executive Director of Aamby Valley City and Hotel Sahara Star.
Diploma, and certificate programmes
As part of the collaboration, the institutions will offer a range of degree, diploma, and certificate programs. The first to be introduced will be a three-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Hospitality Studies, with SPPU serving as the awarding body and A-Star Academy managing academic delivery.
The initiative is designed to integrate classroom learning with practical training in hospitality environments. By involving industry professionals in the curriculum design and delivery, the program aims to align academic study with current industry practices. Students are expected to gain both theoretical understanding and hands-on skills, preparing them for careers in the hospitality sector.

The university conducts these courses through its 52+ academic departments on campus, its School of Open Learning (SoL), and over 600 affiliated colleges spread across Maharashtra.
