Less than a week after his series of attacks and the silence of the government prompted RBI governor Raghuram Rajan to announce that he will not stay for a second term, BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday called for the sacking of chief economic advisor (CEA) Arvind Subramanian for his alleged “anti-India stance” on economic issues in the past.

Subramanian was appointed CEA by the BJP government in October 2014 after his predecessor Raghuram Rajan moved to the RBI as Governor in September 2013.

But the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, to whom supposedly the allegations were aimed at didn’t stay mum and brought out his word yesterday in a press conference by saying that the Govt has full faith in CEA Arvind Subramanian and he is of great value to the nation. Jaitley’s stance was supported and praised by many including Minister of IT Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Looks like the dust is yet to settle with another batch of fresh comments coming from Subramanian Swamy early moning on Thursday. Subramanian Swamy today said he will “suspend” his demand for sacking the chief economic advisor if the government considers him patriotic despite his attempts in the past of trying to twist India’s arm.
