Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday mistakenly named Rahul Gandhi while referring to his father Rajiv Gandhi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was quick to pick on the faux pas and poke fun at the Congress leader.
While addressing a rally in Rajasthan’s Anupgarh ahead of the assembly elections, Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Leaders like Rahul Gandhi gave their lives for this nation’s unity.”
Someone immediately alerted him about his slip of the tongue and Kharge corrected himself.

“I apologise. I mistakenly said Rahul Gandhi…Rajiv Gandhi gave his life for the nation’s unity. Congress has leaders who gave their life for the nation while the BJP has leaders who take lives,” Mallikarjun Kharge said after correcting his mistake.
The BJP posted the clip on their ‘X’ account with the caption: “Yeh kab hua? (When did this happen?)”
Election to the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly will be held on November 25 and votes will be counted on December 3.
