Former President of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS), Naresh Mohan, passed away on Thursday at the age of 82.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit of a local hospital in Delhi few days ago. Multi-organ failure led to his demise, according to a report in the Tribune. His last rites were conducted at the Lodhi crematorium on Thursday.

Mohan was associated with several prominent media organisations, including Hindustan Times, The Tribune, United News of India among others during his long and distinguished career. He was the president of the Indian Newspaper Society during 1990-91.

Current president of INS Rakesh Sharma said the organisation flourished during Mohan’s tenure, benefiting immensely from his vision and leadership.

Union minister Anurag Thakur, in his tribute, said the media veteran left an indelible impact through his works.

“Saddened by the demise of Naresh Mohan ji, a distinguished media personality who, in his career spanning decades, held numerous posts and left an indelible impact through his works and erudition. My deepest condolences to his family members in this hour of grief. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti,” Thakur wrote in a post on ‘X’.
