Assembly Elections Latest News: The Election Commission of India is likely to announce the dates of the Assembly polls on Sunday. Five states – Telangana, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh – are set to hold the Assembly Polls by the end of this year. Amid the buzz of the poll dates, the ECI has called the meeting of its observers today. The agenda of the meeting is to finalise the poll schedule in the five states. So far, the EC has already sent its teams to the poll-bound states.

The EC teams have already visited Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Telangana was the last state that the EC team visited on Thursday. Some reports say that Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will hold the elections in single phase.

Except for Chhattisgarh, all states are likely to see the polls in single phase. However, due to security reasons, Chhattisgarh may see the Assembly polls split in two phases. It should be noted that the full terms of the Assemblies in these five states in ending in January next year.

While Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have Congress governments, KCR’s BRS is in power in Telangana. In Mizoram, Zoramthanga of Mizo National Front is the present incumbent.

According to the poll officials, review of Telangana that concluded on Thursday revealed some interesting facts. This year, there are 8.11 lakh first time voters. In total, Telangana has around 3.17 crore voters. There has been a five per cent increase in net growth rate of electors since January this year.

According to the poll panel, during the poll season this year, the ECI Suvidha Portal (suvidha.eci.gov.in ) is all set to provide affidavit facility to candidates as well as online nomination. The candidates and political parties can also apply for permissions for rallies, meetings via this app.
