Professionally, Zubair Khan is a film-maker and he also owns a production house named 'Garbage', but he is better known to the masses due to his link with India's most wanted criminal, Dawood Ibrahim.
Popular reality TV show Bigg Boss that is hosted by Salman Khan is known to bring an interesting bunch of contestants, who make the show a worthwhile watch. In its 11th season, which is set to kickstart from Sunday (October 1), the show has repeated the trick by bringing famous and controversial personalities together. One such contestant is Zubair Khan. Professionally, Zubair Khan is a film-maker and he also owns a production house named ‘Garbage’, but he is better known to the masses due to his link with India’s most wanted criminal, Dawood Ibrahim. Zubair Khan is married to Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar’s daughter, according to PTI.
However, denying any links with the underworld, Zubair wants people to know him for the work he does. He added that his connection with Dawood has cost him badly and thereby, he will use the Bigg Boss platform to change this perception about him. Zubair told PTI, “Since 2011 all the buyers, investors and others backed out (from his film projects) as they got to know that I am related to Dawood Ibrahim. People were scared of me. This (‘Bigg Boss’) is an opportunity for me to change the perspective of a lot of people in the film industry.”

He further said that he is against the antisocial elements of the society and want to fight against them. “Since the day I got married I have taken ‘panga’ (risk). I have been getting threatening calls since then. I don’t care. I feel there is one life and death. Change is constant and death is permanent, I know death will come some day, so it is better to fight and then die. I don’t want to be a coward. My fight is against illegal elements of the society. It’s a cause,” Zubair added.
On being asked if he fears being judged by other contestants for his relation with Dawood, Zubair said, “I have made a name for myself. It is not fair (to connect me with Dawood). I have nothing to do with Dawood Ibrahim or anybody.”
He recalled that when the makers of “Bigg Boss” approached him, he first thought it to be a prank. “I initially felt it was a hoax call. I was told that a lot of people recommended my name for ‘Bigg Boss’ and I am a good person. They convinced me that the call was real… I thought about it and said yes,” he said. Zubair added that people in the film industry do talk to Dawood but they don’t talk about it in public, PTI further quoted him as saying. “I will also raise a lot of industry issues, like the dirty politics in Bollywood. Everyone talks to Dawood Bhai, whosoever has problems talks to him, it’s just that they don’t open up about it,” he said.
Zubair has produced B-Grade films like ‘Lakeer Ka Fakeer’. The recently released movie, Haseena Parkar, a biopic on Dawood’s sister was also produced under his production house ‘Garbage.’
Bigg Boss season 11 will air on Colors TV channel from Sunday night at 9 PM.
