Ahead of the big rush of pilgrims for the ‘Amrit Snan’ on Mauni Amavasya which falls on January 29, Prayagraj Railway Division has launched a wide range of special measures to ensure hassle-free and safe journey of devotees coming to the Sangam area. The special measures that will come into practice from Tuesday are meant to tackle the hassles of the crowd ensuring a smooth experience at all railway stations in the city.
To ensure safety and unhindered passenger flow, several guidelines and restrictions will be in place. On January 29, entry to Prayagraj Junction will be allowed only from the city side, and passengers will exit from the Civil Lines side through platform No. 6.
For pre-booked passengers, there will be a separate entry gate No. 5 on the city side. Unreserved passengers will enter through colour-coded shelters according to their routes. These shelters will also have unreserved ticket counters, ATMs, and mobile ticketing for the convenience of passengers.
A special holding area has been made available at Khusro Bagh to handle the large crowd that will be accommodated with a capacity of up to one lakh people. Further, arrangements at other important railway stations, like Naini Junction, have also been made to streamline the flow of passengers. In Naini, entry will be only through the Station Road side and exit through the goods shed.
Colour-coded shelters will be provided at all stations for unreserved passengers, which will guide them to the respective platforms based on their ticket details. Special trains will also be run to carry pilgrims to their destinations in an efficient manner.
These steps indicate the railway division’s commitment to ensuring smooth operations during the high-traffic period of the Kumbh Mela, thereby ensuring safety and convenience for thousands of devotees.
