In wake of the severe cyclone Remal, the Kolkata Metro Railways had suspended the metro services between Tollygunge and New Garia on the North-South line and truncated services were run on both directions between Dakshineswar and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stations.
As per the officials, the train operations were also disrupted between Girish Park and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stations, due to waterlogging on the tracks at Park Street and Esplanade stations. The officials also informed that metro services are normal from Dakshineswar to Girish Park and from Kabi Subhas to Mahanayak Uttam Kumar.
The Kolkata metro officials started regulating services from Sunday evening as a safety measure against the inclement weather conditions after Cyclone Remal’s impact on the city. Additionally, the municipal corporation was trying to address the situation on war footing, said Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim.
