The job
I am totally in love with my work and find myself fortunate to have a talented bunch of employees as a part of my team. As a CEO, it feels great to synthesise the energy of all my employees towards a common goal which is more than treating the business as merely a means to make money. While commercial gain is an important aspect for us, like any business establishment, we are jointly passionate about the social cause that defines Jaypore for us — which is preserving and uplifting the rich design heritage of India.
The Weekdays
I am a morning person. I start my day early with some workout that keeps me going for the long day ahead. At work, I prefer scheduling my meetings in the office so that I get to spend a lot of time with my employees. I have fixed certain days in a week for different departments in my team for brainstorming sessions; like Mondays for the marketing team, Tuesdays for the technology team and Wednesdays and Thursdays for the HR team. Lately, I have been actively involved with various start-up and entrepreneurship forums, along with being a charter member of TIE.
The Weekend
For me, weekends mean more than lazing around. I feel most invigorated when my weekends are full of activities that I can’t do through the week. I kickstart my day early with a run, followed with some vigorous workout which helps me start my weekend on a rejuvenated note after a hectic work week. Then, I do some gardening. I also like to include some quality time with my family and friends over the weekend. Often, we visit our community farm, which is like a weekend getaway from the city. As I am also heavily into reading, I follow it as a ritual on the weekends before going to bed.
The Toys
I simply can’t do without my Kindle. It stays with me wherever I go.
