Instagram announces that there are now over two million active subscriptions to creators on its platform. Additionally, Instagram has introduced a subscription stories teaser feature, allowing non-subscribers to view when a creator posts subscriber-only content and giving them the option to subscribe directly from the creator’s story.

Subscriptions enable creators worldwide to earn recurring monthly income through support from their fans. Instagram is expanding this offering by testing new tools to assist creators in growing their subscriptions. These include in-app guidance, providing case studies, best practices, and recommendations in the Professional Dashboard; subscription sticker tap insight, which shows creators how many people are tapping on the subscribe sticker in a creator’s story, indicating potential interest in subscribing; and subscription content protection, testing new methods to prevent screenshots and screen recordings to safeguard a creator’s exclusive content.

“Today on Threads, we’re expanding Hidden Words, which until now only were applied to replies, so you can filter out unwanted content from feeds, search, profiles, and post replies on Threads. We’re also testing ways to select who can quote you and the ability to mute notifications on your posts. I hope these features give you more control over your experience on Threads and help keep it a place for positive conversation. Let me know what you think, especially if you’re in the tests,” Adam Mosseri, Instagram’s Head, said.
