The Green Pencil Foundation launches ‘Pollution Se Azaadi’ campaign to address the crucial issue of air pollution. Sandy Khanda, formerly known as Sandeep Sharma, spearheads the initiative, which aims to revolutionise the fight against air pollution in cities across India, beginning in Gurugram and expanding to major metropolitan areas such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, and Chandigarh.
The campaign is a coordinated effort to lobby for significant public policies that encourage public transportation, lowering carbon emissions, relieve traffic congestion, and, eventually, improve air quality. Gaurav Kumar, Co-founder of Green Pencil Foundation, stated the campaign’s core goal of expressing the fundamental human right to clean air, noting, “We seek freedom from air pollution.”
The Green Pencil Foundation’s effort, coordinated by devoted volunteers, promotes sustainable transportation and active mobility. Engaging communities in public areas, they campaign for stronger public transit laws and safer bicycle routes to address air pollution successfully. They advocate for improved transportation infrastructure and the reclamation of public areas through community-led projects. Sandy Khanda, who is organising the movement in several places, emphasises the importance of combining grassroots efforts with government policy to achieve a net-zero future. This collaborative strategy empowers communities while pushing systemic change for a more sustainable future.
