Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time.Kounal Gupta, founder and CEO, Henry Harvin Education, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more
1. What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
When I’m not working, I often find myself engrossed in a game of chess. There’s something about the strategic depth and mental challenge of the game that I find incredibly rewarding. Additionally, I enjoy diving into a good book, exploring different worlds and ideas through literature, which provides a welcome escape and stimulates my imagination.
2. How do you spend your weekends?
Weekends for me are a mix of leisure and socializing. I might spend a morning playing golf, enjoying the outdoors and some healthy competition. Then, in the afternoons or evenings, I’ll catch up with friends, perhaps over a meal or while watching a movie together. Of course, there’s always time carved out for some reading, allowing me to unwind and delve into captivating stories.
3. What are your favourite gadgets?
When it comes to gadgets, I’m not one for having a multitude of devices. I find contentment in the simplicity of just having my phone and laptop. They serve all my needs efficiently without overwhelming me with unnecessary tech clutter. I believe in embracing technology mindfully and only incorporating gadgets that truly enhance my life.
4. Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
If I were to embark on another career path, I’d be torn between two passions: history and writing. Becoming a historian would allow me to indulge my fascination with the past, uncovering stories and insights that shape our present. Alternatively, pursuing a career as an author would enable me to craft narratives and share my imagination with the world, which is equally enticing.
5. Which is your favourite vacation spot?
Among the plethora of vacation spots, I have a soft spot for the scenic beauty of California. In particular, the drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco is an experience like no other. The breathtaking coastal views, charming towns, and eclectic attractions along the way make it a journey filled with unforgettable moments and endless exploration.
6. A TV show, movie, and an ad campaign that you highly recommend watching.
In terms of entertainment recommendations, I highly suggest diving into the TV shows “Marco Polo” and “The Last Kingdom” for gripping historical dramas that will keep you hooked. For a movie night, “The Pirates of Silicon Valley” offers a fascinating insight into the early days of the tech industry. And if you’re interested in advertising, the ad campaign “Stuck in the Wrong Job” by Henry Harvin is a thought-provoking and relatable exploration of career dissatisfaction.
