The all-new MG Hector SUV will be launched in India in early June this year. The India-bound model was spotted undisguised on the streets of London very recently during a TV commercial shoot. Starting off with the design, the upcoming MG Hector gets a honeycomb grille up front with the MG logo taking the center stage. The sleek LED headlamps double up as turning blinkers and these look stylish to say the least. Below, you can see the headlamps and the fog lamps and you must have seen the same layout on the Tata Harrier. From the sides, the MG Hector SUV seems to have a commanding road presence and those squared wheel arches along with the blacked out pillars further add to the sporty appeal. On the rear, you see the tail lamps that are expected to be LED units and these resemble the ones that come on the Audi Q7.
Express Drives was the first publication that reported the specs and pricing of the upcoming MG Hector SUV. In terms of features, the Hector is expected to get multiple segment first features like a 360-degree parking camera, flat-bottom steering wheel and more. Powering the upcoming MG Hector SUV will be the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that powers the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. The engine on the Hector will produce a maximum power output of close to 170 bhp that is similar to the state of tune with the Jeep Compass.
There will also be a 1.5-litre petrol engine on offer that will have a power output of 150 bhp. While a manual transmission will come as standard, the petrol version will also get a six-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) unit. The upcoming MG Hector is expected to be priced at a starting Rs 15 lakh and the top end trim will cost you Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The deliveries of the MG Hector for the initial customers are expected to start by the end of June. Stay tuned with us for all the updates on two and four wheels!
