Continuing its efforts to increase competition in the Indian industry, CII-LM Thapar centre for competitiveness for SMEs, kick started the first batch of the six-sigma green belt certification programme at CII northern region headquarters at Chandigarh on Thursday. The programme is being held in Chandigarh for the first time for the benefit of the north Indian industry.
Efforts are being made across the world to develop technological strengths, as firms are becoming more and more competitive. With the opening up of the Indian economy, the Indian industry is feeling the heat of increased competition from foreign companies, and the only way out is increasing competition.
Realising this need, CII-LM Thapar centre for competitiveness is organising a two-module training program on six-sigma, spread over a time period of three months, in Chandigarh. The key objectives of the programme are to zero in on the root cause for any manufacturing problem/customer complaint/field failures, to make radical improvements in the process through systematic drill down of root causes and to increase the profit by reducing the cost of poor quality and achieving zero defects.
Ram Narayan, a master six-sigma black belt is the faculty for the programme. The participants include companies like Bharti Teletech, Cosmo Ferrites, Dabur India, IBM India, Intex Industries, Johnson Diversey India, Kamla Dials and Devices, Pidilite, Shyam Telecom, Tynor Orthotics etc.
