Indian Bank became the first public sector bank in India to introduce ‘Touch Screen Kiosk’ – an information portal – which provides a host of information on the bank’s products and services, customer service initiatives, and general information on loans and other aspects. The touch screen kiosk was inaugurated by Usha Thorat, deputy governor, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in Chennai on Wednesday.

Addressing presspersons, MS Sundara Rajan, chairman and managing director, Indian Bank, said the kiosk will have a lot of features and comes with local language support, apart from English and Hindi. “This is an innovative product of the bank and has been supported by the RBI,” he said.

Apart from usual aspects, a customer can also provide feedback on his or her experiences and the same will be automatically forwarded to the bank’s executives for appropriate action and response. One can complain and seek grievances on any of the services offered by the bank with a simple touch and the same will be immediately sent to officials at the headquarters of the bank.

“This will be rolled out in a few branches on a pilot basis,” he said. Upgradation in this kiosk is very easy and the bank will think of integrating this with that of core banking solutions over a period of time. The bank is planning to have similar kiosks at airports, railway stations, and malls across the country over a period of time.
