Bharti Airtel Broadband and Telephone Services on Monday tied up with search engine Google for web-based services like email, chat, on-demand gaming and search to its subscribers. The features offered also include 2GB storage, spam filter, POP access, web SMS, music download and sharing of documents and spreadsheets on a real-time basis.
Customers will also get to personalise their Internet start page with their choice of news, blog postings, weather and other interactive services through thousands of gadgets as well as content from any site that gives XML feeds. Airtel broadband customers will be able to access all these services with a single sign-on free of cost. More offerings like e-commerce applications will be added to the portal over a period of time.
Atul Bindal, president, Airtel Broadband and Telephone Services told FE that the offering is targeted at households and small and medium businesses in top 94 cities. ?It will allow you to download full-length movies; small businesses will be able to share documents on a real-time basis; users will be able to access content in their own language,? he added.
?The alliance will provide an ideal platform for Airtel users to enjoy the best possible online experience with customised access to Google?s evolving suite of innovative products,? said Shailesh Rao, managing director, Google India.
