Today, 10 CEOs will brainstorm on environmental issues in the capital. The CEO roundtable is being organised as a part of the 3rd Renewable Energy India 2009 Expo.
K Subramanya of Tata BP Solar India, Rabindra Satpathy of Reliance Industries, Rajeewa Arya of Moser Baer Photo Voltaic, Sanjay Dhawan of Acme TelePower, Hari Surapaneni of Solar Semiconductor, Sarvesh Kumar of RRB, Harish Mehta of Suzlon Energy, and Rajindra Valsalan of WinWinD Power Energy are amongst the participants.
The forum promises to be a thought-provoking, interactive session providing insights into the renewable energy sector, investment outlook and enabling policies for the future growth.
The roundtable is just one of the many events scheduled as part of the expo being organised in Delhi from August 10-12.
The theme of the conference is Renewables… Empowering India. The expo offers a global platform to bring together visionaries from the renewable energy sector. The expo covers solar, wind, bio, small hydro, geothermal, cogeneration, energy efficiency and electric vehicles in a space of 15,000 sq metre.
Speaking about his expectation from the expo, Prem Behl, chairman, Exhibitions India group, says, ?Exhibitions like this might not translate into immediate business but they do work as a catalyst.?
He says that such initiatives add up to accelerate the formulation of government policy and follow-up by industry. The budget incentives were as a result of the follow up of the event last year. The renewable sector today is like what the telecom sector was 15 years back, and it is poised for a huge leap, he adds.
About 400 exhibitors from 27 countries are expected to showcase technological advancements and innovative applications. Over 2,500 conference delegates and more than 15,000 trade visitors are expected to participate during the three-day event.
The event plays host to country pavilions from Germany and the US and industry delegations from Bangladesh, China and UK.
Another interesting event at the expo is a Green Jobs Fair. According to a 2009 study by analyst firm HKC22, green technologies are expected to create 25 million new jobs by 2020. The fair is an endeavour to highlight emerging career opportunities in the renewable energy industry.
To encourage youth, a youth summit is also being organised on the theme Youth… Building a Sustainable Future. Youth Entrepreneurial Green Awards 2009 will be given to outstanding projects undertaken by the Indian youth in the field of renewables. A technical workshop on latest trends in designing; manufacturing and testing of PV modules and a workshop on industrial growth through energy efficiency and renewable energies also promises to add to the event.
The event is supported by the ministry of new & renewable energy. Several leading associations, including African Wind Energy Association, Biodiesel Association of India, Cogeneration Association of India, Grow Diesel Fuel Forever, Solar Energy Society of India, US Commercial Services, World Energy Council-IMC and WWEA have extended their support to leverage the expo platform as a potential meeting place for top trade industry players and investors.
