Actor Prakash Raj today alleged that workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Yuva Morcha’ “cleaned” and “purified” the stage from where he delivered his address in Karnataka’s Sirsi town by sprinkling cow urine. The actor’s latest outburst comes after a video of the incident was aired on some television channels today.
The actor took to Twitter to react to the development and wrote: “BJP workers cleaning and purifying the stage ..from where I spoke in Sirsi town …by sprinkling cow urine (divine gomoothra)…will you continue this cleaning and purification service where ever I go.”

The actor had delivered an address at a Left-backed event titled, “Our Constitution, Our pride” where he had come down heavily on Union minister and Uttar Kannada MP Anant Kumar Hegde over his remarks that the Modi government would change the Constitution. Hegde, Minister of State for Skill Development at the Centre, had later apologised for his remarks in the Lok Sabha.
News agency ANI reported today that BJP Yuva Morcha workers ‘cleansed’ the stage with cow urine after the event by the actor following his criticism of the BJP minister.

No stranger to controversy, Prakash Raj has taken a vocal stand against the BJP in Karnataka on several political issues. Following Hegde’s comments, the actor had written an open letter to the minister in December 2017, accusing him of inciting hate.
In November last year, he had sent a defamation notice to Pratap Simha, a BJP parliamentarian from Mysuru, over certain social media posts targetting him and asked him to apologise for the “trolling”.
“I have sent a legal notice to Mr Pratap Simha… as a citizen of this country for the way he has trolled me. I have done this because 99 per cent of those who troll are behind the mask, but now people who are straight, who are most responsible representing a constituency are part of trolling (sic),” Prakash Raj had then said.
“He has to reply to my queries. I have questioned his act of trolling. I am asking him to answer legally, and if he doesn’t I will be taking criminal action against him.”
